Travel Date: May 16-22, 2018
A very smooth trip amongst everything. We departed from the Philippines at 11PM, and everything from checking in to the immigration to the departure were very smooth. No questions from the IO, Hazel was only asked for a travel auth even though she’s a DOST scholar, and of course no issues with a seafarer too.
[Money Exchange] We arrived in Kota Kinabalu at 2 o clock in the morning. Most of the stores in the airport were already closed, only few were left open. I personally challenged myself to not spend more than P15 000. When I arrived in NAIA from Cebu, I already converted my P10 000 to $188. The buying rate at that time was at $1 = P53.xx. It was hard for me to look for a money exchange from PHP to BND (Brunei Dollar) and MYR (Ringgit), so we just decided to exchange the money in Kota Kinabalu. In Kota Kinabalu’s Airport, I am not sure if they do change the money from USD to BND, but I wasn’t able to buy a BND in Kota Kinabalu’s airport. The whole time we have just MYR until we reached Labuan.
Exchange Rates (Exchange rates vary every day):
1 Malaysian Ringgit = 13.23 Philippine Peso
1 Brunei Dollar = 39.13 Philippine Peso
